语言水平对大学生英语学习动机的影响(英文)

【摘要】在影响英语学习动机的因素中,语言水平的作用如何?对于不同年级的学习者,语言水平对不同类型的动机产生哪些具体的影响?能否有效的激发学习动机,形成良性循环仍有待深入探讨。130名大学生作为研究对象参与了本次研究的问卷调查。分析发现;高水平学生的学习动机明显高于低水平学生,尤其表现在内在动机上,同时大一高水平学生出国动机较强,大三高水平学生信息媒介动机较强。

1IntroductionAfterthe29thOlympicGames,whichshowsafast-develop-ingChinatotheworld,thereismoreandmorefrequentcontactsandcommunicationsbetweenChinaandtheglobe.TheacquisitionofEnglishisbecomingincreasinglyimportantunderthefastpaceofglobalization.LearningmotivationisamongthekeyfactorsinfluencingEng-lishstudy,andtherelationshipbetweenlanguagelevelandthein-tensityofdifferentmotivationtypesisstilltobefurtherexplored.Therefore,thepresentresearchwillsurveytheinfluenceoflan-guageleveltowardsstudents’learningmotivations,andthenputforwardsuggestionsforEnglishteachingaccordingly.2LiteratureReviewResearchershaveapproachedlearningmotivationfromtheirownstandpointsbyprovidingdifferentdefinitionsandclassifica-tions.Andmanyresearcheshavestudiestheinfluencingfactorsoflearningmotivation.Thefollowingwillillustratethemajorviewsorfindingsinthisarea.Asforthedefinitionof“motivation”,Gardner’sismostinflu-entialone.Gardner(1985)definedmotivationastheextenttowhichanindividualworksorstrivestolearnthelanguagebasedonadesiretodosoandthesatisfactionexperiencedintheprocess.Motivationsaredividedintodifferentcamps,amongwhichGardnerandLambert’s(1972)integrativeandinstrumentalmotiva-tion,DeciandRyano(1985)andVallerand’s(1997)intrinsicandextrinsicmotivationareclassicalones.GaoYihong(2003)dividedlearningmotivationsintosevertypes,includingintrinsicinterest,immediateachievement,learningsituation,goingabroad,socialre-sponsibility,individualdevelopmentandinformationmedium,basedonalargescalesurvey.Gao’scategorizationwillb
